Robert D. 'Stoney' Stonebraker

Robert D. “Stoney” Stonebraker, 90, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Mr. Stonebraker graduated from Huntington High School in 1946 and served in the United States Army Air Corps as a private first class, as a mechanic during World War II. He retired as a journeyman electrician for A. Hattersley & Sons in Fort Wayne. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntington for 80 years.

He lived in Huntington until his retirement, at which point he moved to a house he built on Sechrist Lake, in Warsaw. In 2003, he moved back to Huntington.

He was born July 31, 1927, in Huntington to Dale M. and Mary Stetzel Stonebraker. He married Catherine Luella Sparks on April 10, 1948, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Gary Stonebraker, of Coldwater, MI; a daughter, Linda Couch of Huntington; five brothers, Keith Stonebraker, of Fort Wayne; Dean Stonebraker and Neil (Sandy) Stonebraker, both of Huntington; Arthur (Carol) Stonebraker, of Kokomo; and James Stonebraker, of Roanoke; a sister, Norma (Rex) Jones, of Roanoke; three grandsons, Troy (Carrie) Couch, Brad (Leigh Anne) Couch and Adam (Candice) Couch, all of Huntington; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Couch, and a grandson, Ryan Couch.

Calling is Wednesday, July 25, 2018, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Randy DeBois officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Huntington County at a later date.
