Michael E. Stoffel

Michael E. Stoffel, 66, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at 3:42 a.m. at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Stoffel graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne. He owned and operated T&C Disposal in Huntington for 27 years, retiring in 2003.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus and a past member of Huntington Jaycees. He coached basketball at Huntington Catholic High School and at the grade school level for more than 20 years. He served as assistant basketball coach for the Bishop Luers High School girls’ team for 12 years.

He was born Jan. 9, 1952, in Huntington to A. Richard and Wilma M. Laymon Stoffel. He married Debbie A. Johnson on June 5, 1971, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Travis M. Stoffel of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Amy M. Stoffel and Bethany A. Stoffel, both of Huntington; two brothers, Nick Stoffel, of Huntington, and Fred Stoffel, of Larwill; two sisters, Sandy (Daniel) Winkelman, of Stevens Pointe, WI, and Patti (Bob) Bowen, of Huntington; his stepmother, Judy Stoffel, of Huntington; and a granddaughter, Henley Freds of Huntington.

Calling is Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington with a rosary service following at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Huntington, with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington.
