Naoma L. Whitman

Naoma L. Whiteman, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at 8:45 p.m. at Oakbrook Village, in Huntington.          

Mrs. Whiteman worked at Kids Kampus for many years as a lead teacher for the before and after program. She was a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle in Wabash.

She was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Lakeland, GA, to Matthew and Nancy Futch Hickox.  She married Joseph Eugene Whiteman on No. 17, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1992.
 
Survivors include a son, Timothy Eugene (Carol) Whiteman, of Huntington; three daughters, Kimberly Jane Thompson and Jennifer Lee (Dan) Schroder, both of Huntington, and Jacqueline Jo (William) Honeycutt, of Marion; a sister, Molly (Gene) Johnson, of Blackshear, GA; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Goetz.

Calling is Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington.
Additional calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Arthur Vanderhoff and Rev. Jeff Porter officiating.
Burial will be in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Huntington.
