Glen D. Gooley

Glen D. Gooley, 89, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at 12:45 p.m.  at Oakbrook Village in Huntington.

Mr. Gooley worked as a paperboy in the 1940s, counting change on the marble rail in the courthouse, at the Double Dip, with his father in construction and he farmed 167 acres, all before entering the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, he completed the Riggers Course at Camp Lejeune and become a corporal during the Korean War. After his discharge from the military, he and his wife returned to Huntington, where he was a master craftsman, designing and building his own home. He worked at Lehman Floor Covering in Huntington.

He was a member of American Legion Post 7 and its color guard, Huntington Moose and 40 & 8.

He was born March 30, 1929, in Huntington to Charles W. and Maisie Ormsby Gooley. He married Janice Lorraine Krile on Dec. 23, 1952, in Burbank, CA, and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Timothy D. (Donna) Gooley, of Huntington; three daughters Tamra (Steven) Caley and Cynthia K. (Jimmy) Emley, both of Huntington, and Joni (Jimy) Utley, of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at 10 a.m.  at the mortuary, with Rev Chris Hayden officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
