Bessie B. Caley, 98, of Roanoke, IN, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at 1:20 p.m. at her daughter’s home in Fort Myers, FL.
Mrs. Caley graduated from Roanoke High School in 1938, and worked as a winder at Coil Engineering and then as an inspector at Economy Engineering Products for 25 years. She was a lifelong member of First Brethren Church, where she taught Bible School, was a member of WMS, a deaconess, baked bread for communion and laundered the communion towels and was in charge of decorating and organizing the making of apple dumplings.
She was born April 8, 1920, in Jackson Township to James and Zola Zent Williams. She married Robert Frederick Caley on Oct. 10, 1940, in Roanoke, and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1977.
Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl (Harry) White and Jan (Monte) Emle, both of Fort Myers, FL, and Cathy Jo Smith, of Columbus; two brothers, James (Betty) Williams, of Roanoke, and Dick (Norma) Williams, of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Harry (Tracy) White Jr., of Princeton, TX;, Stephanie (Bob) Ura, of Lathia, FL; Chris (JoAnn) White, of Granger; Mick (Carrie) Emley, of Guilford; Ben (Melissa) Emley, of Fort Wayne; and Megan Schmalzried, of Hong Kong; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes, 240 Crestwood Drive, preceding the 11 a.m. funeral service. Rev. Ron Burns will officiate. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
