Ardella E. Reust

Ardella Elizabeth Reust, 91, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday Feb. 10, 2019, at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mrs. Reust was a resident at the Heritage of Huntington. She was a member of Willing Twenty Homemakers Club in Whitley County, Rosary Sodality, and was instructor of religious education at St. Catherine and St. Joseph (Roanoke) churches. She exhibited baking & sewing entries at the adult level at the Indiana State Fair.

After her Washington Center High School and International Business College education she was a secretary at International Harvester.  She was the office manager at Schmidt Electric Inc. in Fort Wayne, which she and her husband owned, for more than 10 years.

She was born May 16, 1927, in Columbia City to Edward P. and Florence C. Harkenrider Ness. She married Bernard George Reust on May 30, 1950, at Saint Catherine Catholic Church, (Nix Settlement) in Columbia City, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2014.

Survivors include four sons, Anthony (Karen) Reust and Andrew (Staci) Reust, both of Columbia City; Gerard (Teresa) Reust, of Lagro; and Ben (Tami) Reust, of Roanoke; two daughters, Mary Meerz, of Fort Wayne, and Sharon (Ken) Deetz, of Brighton, MI; 19 grandchildren, Brad Reust, Blake Reust, Stacey Gettys, Noah Gettys, Ryan Gettys, Brett Gettys, Jeff  Zickgraf, Rene (Kate) Zickgraf, Brenten Reust, Richard Reust, Lindell Reust, Megan Reust, Adam Reust, Eric Reust, Ian Deetz, Kyle Deetz, Nathan Deetz, Dustin Deetz and Damian Reust; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Marie Gettys.

Callling is Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 pm., with recitation of the rosary at 4 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 840 Cherry St., Huntington, with Rev. Tony Steinacker officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington.
