Lynda Blaising

Lynda Blaising, 57, of Columbia City, IN, and having family in Roanoke, IN, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 12, 2019, at her home.

Mrs. Blaising graduated from Holland High School in 1979. She received her bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and her master's degree from Ball State University.  She was a teacher in West Virginia for a year and moved back to Michigan. In 1986, she moved to Fort Wayne. Thirty years of her teaching career was spent with East Allen County School Corp. and most recently with Northeast Indiana Special Education Cooperative. She also taught an online master's class for Indiana University.

She was born Nov. 26, 1961, in Holland, MI, to Stuart and Myra J. Dykman Jordan. Her father survives in Plainfield, MI, and her mother, Myra (Al) Kohsel, survives in Holland, MI. She married Chris Blaising on June 13, 2009, at Wolf Lake United Methodist Church, and he survives.

Additional survivors are a daughter, Erin (Jeremy) Peer, of Fort Wayne; a son, Paul Keim, of Roanoke; a stepdaughter, Jenna (Ben Pearce) Blaising, of Indianapolis; a stepson, Ryne (Nancy) Blaising, of Chicago; three brothers, Dan Jordan, of Belmont, MI; Steve (Nathan Hood) Jordan, of Austin, TX; and Patrick Jordan, of Plainwell, MI; a sister, Gwen (Jim) Stuuts, of Schoolcraft, MI; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Logan Blaising.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, in Columbia City. Rev. Matt Bock officiated.
