Ricky E. Powell

Ricky Eugene Powell, 39, of rural LaFontaine, IN, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at 6:30 a.m., at his home.

Mr. Powell was a 1998 graduate of Wabash High School, and received a technical certificate from Ivy Tech College. He worked at Intrasect Technology in Wabash. He attended Hope Rising in Huntington and Lincolnville United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Wabash Wildlife and Sportsman Association and the National Rifle Association. He coached Little League Baseball in Wabash, and also coached the Kosko Dust Devils, a youth shooting team.

He was born Feb. 21, 1979, in Wabash, to Larry and Aileen Sparks Powell. His parents survive in Wabash.  He married Chirsty Birkey at the LaFontaine United Methodist Church on June 2, 2001, and she survives.

Additional survivors are three children, Cayden Powell, Morgan Powell and Dylan Powell, all of rural LaFontaine; and two sisters, Tammy (Jeff) Woolems, of Frankfort, and Vickie (Scott) Houlihan, of Wabash.

Calling is Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, and for one hour on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service at Hope Rising, 1131 Etna Ave., Huntington. Rev. Zack Working will officiate. Burial will be in LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.
