John H. Berg

John H. Berg, 83, of Huntington IN, and formerly of Edwardsburg, MI, and Kalamazoo MI, died Thursday, April 18, 2019, at The Heritage of Huntington after battling Parkinson’s disease.

Mr. Berg graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps, and was stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ. He worked at Sears Roebuck and Brunswick Corp in Kalamazoo, and as plant manager at several Indiana manufacturers including Haws, Domore and Patrick Industries, in Elkhart.

He was born April 27, 1935, in Kalamazoo to John H. and Erma J. Whitmore Berg. He married Janet E. Gillett on June 28, 1959, in Douglas, AZ, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Karen (Tom) Bennett and Diane Endres, both of Huntington; a son, Brian Berg, of Carleton, MI; a sister, Elizabeth Hizer, of Kalamazoo, MI; nine grandchildren, Daniel (April) Turner, Darren Sivley, Cameron (Kristina) Sivley, Carrie (Jeremy) Fiedler, Kelly Endres, Martika Berg, Jana (Travis) Ricker, Katherine “Kay” Bennett and Joni Bennett; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Willow Ricker and Brody Ricker.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at College Park Church, Huntington.
