Mary M. Nowels

Mary Margaret Nowels, 94, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, June 24, 2019, at 1:18 a.m.  at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mary retired as a team leader from Magnetek in 1994 after 35 years of service. She had also worked at Caswell Runyan Cabinet Co. and also worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne making bombs during World War II. She played basketball for the GE Club in Fort Wayne and was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. She was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 7 and a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Huntington. She volunteered at both Huntington Memorial and Parkview Huntington Hospital.

She was born Nov. 3, 1924 in Huntington to Carl and Irene Finley Stahl. She married Herbert L. Nowels on July 2, 1947, in Huntington, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1997.

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Lockwood, of Fort Wayne, and Cathy K. (Mike) Anderson, of Roanoke; two sisters, Dorothy Miller, of Brownsburg and Bonnie Beck of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Theresa Ruppert, Ryan Lockwood, Nicholas Anderson and Brandon Anderson; and four great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 28, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the mortuary, with Rev. Dr. Marti Lundy officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Huntington County.
