Taylor L. Sharp

Taylor L. Sharp, 90, of Nashville, IL, and having ties to Huntington, IN, died Sunday, July 14, 2019, at 7:30 a.m.

Mr. Sharp was a member of the United States Army, where he served as a chaplain.  He was a pastor for churches in California and Indiana from 1952 until his retirement in 1989.   He was a member of College Park United Brethren Church in Huntington.

He was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Lawrence County, AR, to Edgar and Ellen Riggs Sharp.  He married Donna Alpaugh on June 9, 1952, in West Unity, OH, and she survives.

Additional survivors are a son, Scott (Beth) Sharp, of Nashville; two daughters, Carol (Mike) Ruppel, of Simpsonville, SC, and Sheri David) Recknagel, of Oakland, MI; two brothers, Vern (Darlene) Sharp, of Boise, ID, and Dr. Charles Sharp, of Cape Girardeau, MO; two sisters, Sue Broaddus, of Placentia, CA; and Kathy (Stanley) Gray, of Idaho; and four grandchildren, Weston Sharp, Catherine (Arturo) Martinez, Bradley Arnold and Max Recknagel.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 19, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Campagna Funeral Home,171 NW Court St., Nashville, IL, with Rev. Scott Sharp officiating.  Cremation will be performed after the funeral service and burial of ashes will be held at a later date in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Calling will be one hour prior to the service.
