James C. 'Jim' Lake

James C. "Jim" Lake, 91, of Marion, IN, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, at 10:33 a.m. at Rolling Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine.

Mr. Lake graduated from Marion High School and enlisted in the United States Army, serving during World War II. He worked as a system repairman for 38 years with Indiana Bell/AT&T before retiring.

He was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Grant County to Lawrence and Cornelia Swope Lake. He married Joan Bradford on Dec. 23, 1950, and she survives.

Additional survivors inlcude three sons, Stephan A. (Karen) Lake, of Arlington Heights, IL; Kim L. (Nancy) Lake, of South Bend; and Greg J. Lake, of Auburn; a daughter, Holly (Terry) Robertus, of Sandy Springs, GA; a brother, Gene Lake, of Daytona, FL; two half-brothers, Sam (Debbie) Lake and John Lake; and 10 grandchildren, Michael (Christina) Lake, Austin (Amber) Lake, Rob (Anne Therese) Lake, Trevor Lake, Matt (Brittney) Herring, Andrew Herring, Lauren (Andrew) DeJong, Danielle (Eric) Thompson, Courtney Mills and Hayli Robertus.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Brian Herring; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Lake; and a granddaughter, Michelle Lake.

Calling is Friday, Aug.16, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. A funeral service will folow immedately after at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
