Douglas E. Baker

Douglas Earl Baker, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home Inc. in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Baker was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Huntington. He served in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1959 to 1964. He worked maintenance for the Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, AZ, for 14 years and had also worked at Schenkel’s Dairy in Huntington. He retired in June 1998.        
     
He was born March 25, 1940, in Huntington to Chester E. and Ruth E. Bowers Baker.  He married Margaret Lucetta McKinley on July 21, 1961, in Huntington, and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2010.

Survivors include a son, Matthew (DeLynn Johnston-Baker) Baker, of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Sharon Baker, of Huntington; and two grandsons, Douglas (Emma Clor) Baker, of Franklin, and Clayton (Allison) Baker, of Huntington.

Calling is Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, from 10 a.m. to noon at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A funeral service will follow immediately after at noon, with Brother Jon Knecht officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion.
