Jan. D. Bartrom

Jan Duane Bartrom, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, at 1:11 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.                                          

Mr. Bartrom graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1960. He served in the United States Army. He worked for the Erie Railroad, was a machinist at Dana Corporation and retired in 2006. He was a member of Union Church, American Legion Riders, Patriot Guard Riders, American Legion Post 7 and American Legion Post 85 and was former chaplain and ride captain for the Indiana Patriot Guard Riders.

He was born July 16, 1941, in Fort Wayne to John and Dorothy Hurd Bartrom. He married Linda Householder on July 16, 1966, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors are a son, Jim (Janet) Bartrom, of Huntington; two daughters, Sherri (Joel) Guhl and Kerri (Barry) Johnson, both of Huntington; a brother, John Bartrom, of Huntington; three sisters, Judy Sanders and Lynne (Dan) Cicatko, both of Huntington, and Jill (John) Christ, of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Nick Guhl, Tara Guhl and Matthew Guhl; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Union Church, 3688E–400N, Huntington. Additional calling will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 10 am. prior to the service at the church. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 10 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Rick Hines and Rev. Mark Hoffer officiating. Military rites will be conducted immediately following the service. A private burial will be held at a later date at Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.

Memorials are to Cancer Services of Huntington County, American Legion Riders or the Indiana Patriot Guard Riders, in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.
