Gwen A. Dixon

Gwen A. Dixon, 100, of Wabash, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, at 6:55 p.m., at her home.

Mrs. Dixon was a 1936 graduate of Andrews High School. She was a beautician for 25 years, volunteered at the Wabash County Hospital and during World War II she worked at Lockheed as a “Rosie the riveter.” She was a longtime member of the St. Matthews United Church of Christ, and a current member of the Wabash Alliance Church.

She was born Oct. 30, 1918, in Huntington County to Farel and Erma Tribolet Flora. She married Esta Lewis Dixon on Oct.11, 1941, in Huntington, and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2001.

She is survived by a son, Larry (Lisa) Dixon, of Alamosa, CO; a daughter, Linda (Tim) Mylin, of Noblesville; two sisters, Jean Leakey, of Wabash, and Jane Collins, of Huntington; Indiana. two grandchildren, Isaiah (Kristal) Mylin, of Zionsville; and Maggie (Michael) Perry, of Noblesville; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Kay Dixon.

Calling is Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, from noon to 2 p.m. at Wabash Alliance Church, 1200 N. Cass St., Wabash A memorial service will be held immediately following at 2 p.m., with Rev. Todd Render officiating.
