Madeline M. Scarbrough

Madeline Mary Scarbrough, 98, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at her residence.

Mrs. Scarbrough was a 1939 graduate of Paulding High School in Ohio.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntington. She was a volunteer at the Hoosier Air Museum.

She was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Paulding, OH, to Peter and Viola Strable Daeger. She married Frank E. Scarbrough on May 30, 1946, in Paulding, OH, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1997.

Survivors include a son, James Scarbrough, of Woodburn; four daughters, Susan (Michael) Lewis-Grissom, of Columbia City; Theresa (Wayne) Smith, of Huntington; Laura (Brian) Barber, of Austin, TX; Mary Beth (Scott) Gerber, of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Scarbrough, and a daughter, Marcia Levine.

Calling is Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Recitation of the Rosary will be held prior to the calling Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750, with Rev. Stephen Colchin presiding. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
