Billy L. Mundy

Billy Lew Mundy, 87, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington.

Mr. Mundy was a 1950 graduate of Andrews High School. He served in the United States Army stateside from 1953 to 1955. He had attended Purdue University winter agriculture courses for two years. He had farmed in Dallas Township for most of his adult life. He established Tuliplane Tree Farm in 1988, planting 22 acres of timber through the years. He had worked at Celotex Corporation in Lagro for 28 years. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Bippus. His family lived in Steuben County until he was 6 years old, when they moved to Dallas Township in Huntington County.

He was born May 27, 1932, to Wilbur E. and Hazel M. (Emley) Mundy. He married Mabel Bolinger on Sept. 13, 1959, in South Whitley, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Angela M. (Kyle) Schmidt, of Fountaintown, and Patricia A. Fusselman , of Wilmington, NC; two sons, Michael A. (Jeana) Mundy, of Andrews, and Dan Hooks, of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren, Kayla Schmidt, of Morristown; Caleb (Michaela) Schmidt, of Greenfield; Cody Schmidt, of Fountaintown; Levi (Cortney) Mundy, of Indianapolis; Nathan (Jordan) Mundy, of Andrews; Ashley Fusselman and Adam Dyer, both of Huntington; Austin (Taryn) Fusselman; and Adrienne (Matt) Brown; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James L. Mundy, and a great grandson, David L. Brown.

Calling is Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 7955N-900W, Huntington at 10:30 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will be at the South Whitley Cemetery.
