Willard Creech

Willard Creech, 91, of Marion, IN, and having family in LaFontaine, IN, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at his son’s home in LaFontaine.

Mr. Creech was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Army, 88th Infantry Division, from 1946 to 1949. He was a messenger in Italy and received the Army of Occupation Medal, as well as the World War II Victory Medal. Following his time in the military, he was a truck repairman with General Motors, retiring after 40 years of service. He was a past aster of Samaritan Lodge 105 of Free and Accepted Masons, in Marion, a and a member of Valley of Fort Wayne Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne, North American Hunting Club, Indiana State Police Alliance, Indiana Sheriff's Association, USO and First Friends Church of Grant County. He was also lifetime member of the NRA and a committee member for the Right to Bear Arms.

He was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Valeria, KY, to Sydney and Ella Perry Creech. He married Lourine Browning in 1957, and she preceded him in dedath in 1987. He married his second wife, Anna, in 1990, and she preceded him in death in 2006. He married Donna M. Carnes in 2007, and she preceded him in death in 2019.

He is survived by three sons, Steven "Michael" Creech and Dennis (Cindy) Creech, both of Marion, and Tracy L. (Kristee) Creech, of LaFontaine; a daughter, Vickie L. (Bill Davis) Wilson, of Marion; two stepsons, Gary (Jeanne) Carnes, of Colorado, and Kevin (Christe) Carnes, of Plainfield; a stepdaughter, Sherry Beatty, of Fort Wayne; sister, Mabel Broughton of Newark, OH; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a grandchild.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Marion, with Rev. Bob Garra and Rev. Dwight Elliott co-officiating. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
