Miles V. 'Pete' Knowles Jr.

Miles V. “Pete” Knowles Jr., 88, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at 11:56 p.m.  at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington.

Mr. Knowles graduated from Mater Dei High School in Evansville in 1949 and then from the University of Evansville with a bachelor’s in engineering. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked in the engineering department at Magnavox in Fort Wayne for more than 25 years. He also worked for Delco Electronics as an engineer for over 10 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke, Zanesville Lions Club and VFW Post 2689 and American Legion Post 7, both in Huntington.

He was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Evansville to Miles V. Sr. and Mary Knowles. He married Virginia Lee Potts in Evansville, and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2017.

Survivors include three sons, Carl (JoDeane) Knowles, of Huntington; Ken (Kim) Knowles, of Muskegon, MI; and Rich (Jennie) Knowles, of Chandler, AZ; a daughter, Cindy (Ron) Criswell, of Roanoke; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Andy Knowles, and a great-grandson, James Kugler.

Calling is Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, with Rev. Ray Scribner officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Roanoke with military graveside rites performed by the VFW Post 2689 of Huntington.
