Mary L. Diefenbaugh

Mary L. Diefenbaugh, 83, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at 9:42 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Diefenbaugh graduated from Linlawn High School in 1954 and spent a year studying at Manchester College. She retired after working for 26 years as a teacher’s aide and in-school suspension supervisor for Huntington County Community School Corporation at Andrews Elementary, Crestview Middle School and Huntington North High School. She was a former member of The Good Shepherd Church in Huntington and most recently attended The Awakening Church.

She was born March 15, 1936, in Wabash to Raymond C. and Pauline Paullus Thompson. She married Fred Lee Diefenbaugh on Aug. 3, 1958, in Wabash, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2014.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue L. (Kort) Sell, of Huntington; two sons, Lee A. (Julie) Diefenbaugh, of North Manchester and Jay D. Diefenbaugh, of Cashton, WI; two brothers, John Thompson of Palm Harbor, FL, and Pat Thompson of Portsmouth, VA; two sisters, Rebecca (Bernard) Summers, of Royce City, TX, and Phyllis Coppock, of Peru; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Calling is Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the mortuary,with Rev. Ashlyn Kippert officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Servia.
