Thomas W. McCutcheon

Thomas W. McCutcheon, 69, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at 6:30 a.m. at his home.

Mr. McCutcheon graduated from Huntington North High School in 1969 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served 38 years for the Huntington City Police Department, retiring as captain in 2014. He spent more than 12 years with the detective bureau and was a 1980 graduate of the FBI Academy. He was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Huntington and served as past president of the local Fraternal Order of Police 77, as well as the Huntington PAL Club.

He was born Dec. 30, 1950, in Huntington to Dick and Violet Barton McCutcheon. He married Mary L. Taylor on April 27, 1974 in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Coley (Jenny) McCutcheon, of Muncie, and Chris (Kristy) McCutcheon, of Huntington; a brother, Jerry (Linda) McCutcheon, of Huntington; a sister, Gloria Jean (Tom) Hughes, of Huntington; two stepsisters, Marsha (Ron) Schenkel, of Huntington, and Theresa (Gary) Guetzlaff, of Florida; and three grandchildren, Andrew McCutcheon, Cooper McCutcheon and Hailey McCutcheon.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Lori McCutcheon, and a grandson, Isaiah McCutcheon.

Calling is Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 1000 Flaxmill Rd., Huntington, with Rev. Dr. Marti Lundy officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Huntington County, with military graveside rites performed by VFW Post 2689 of Huntington.
