Jesse Max Hand

Jesse Max Hand, 74, of Garrett, IN, and formerly of Huntington County, died Monday, July 13, 2020, at his home.

Mr. Hand served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and worked at Dana in Fort Wayne for 32 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Wayne Center United Methodist Church, American Legion 178 in Garrett, and Maumee Valley Steam Tractor Club. He was a past member of the LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1945, in Huntington County, to William and Estella Warstler Hand. He married Jacque Cartwright on Dec. 2, 1967, in Huntertown.

He is survived by a daughter, Angela Fritz; a son, Shane Hand; two brothers, Carroll (Shirley) Hand and Larry (Joyce) Hand; four sisters, DeMarise (Lynn) Martin, Barbara (Raymond) Deetz-Kissner, Shirley (Dave Fike) Hand-Gronski and Marsha Myers; a sister-in-law, Sandy Hand; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services were held on Friday, July 17, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, in Churubusco. Burial took place at Swan Cemetery.

Memorials are to Wayne Center United Methodist Church, Kendallville.
