Joanna Doublin Tinkel

Joanna Doublin Tinkel, 86, formerly of Hartford City, IN, and with ties to LaFontaine, IN, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, at Rolling Meadows Health Care in LaFontaine.

Mrs. Tinkel worked at RCA for 15 years until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gas City and the Jonesboro and Swayzee Chapters of the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion in Jonesboro.

She was born June 5, 1934, in Hartford City, to Norman E. and Lucille T. Morricle Stoner. She married Ray C. Doublin on Oct. 6, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1992. She later married Merle Tinkel and he preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2002.

She is survived by five children, Clyde (Tina) Doublin, of Marion, Jimmy (Kathy Jo) Doublin, of Castalia, OH, Johnny (Kim) Doublin, of Wingate, NC, Penny Mann of Chapin, SC and Julie (Ray) Rackley, of Irmo, SC; a sister, Thelma (Sherman) Claussen of Irwin, IA; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two children, Thesle Ellen Griffore and Jerry Doublin.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, with Rev. Randy Thornburg officiating. Burial took place in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion.
