Loren E. Thurman

Loren E. Thurman, 96, of rural Hartford City, IN, and with ties to Huntington County, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Thurman was a graduate of Van Buren High School in 1941 and then went to Indiana Business College. He retired from the Exchange Bank of Warren where he had been vice president, loan officer, and on the board of directors. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, Gideons, and Masonic Lodge in Van Buren. He was a sales clerk for Ellenberger’s Auctioneers and was also a Blackford County farmer for many years. He was a member of the Oak Chapel Church and a current resident of Heritage Pointe in Warren.
 
He was born on Aug. 20, 1924, in Washington Township, Blackford County, to James O. and Hazel Thornburgh Thurman. He married Anna L. Puckett on April 21, 1946, in Upland. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith Wilson, of Port Charlotte, FL; two sons, Richard L. (Barbara) Thurman and Ed (Rhonda) Thurman, both of Hartford City; a sister, Barbara McQueary, of Wabash; three sisters-in-law, Minevia Thurman, of Marion, Shirley Puckett, of Marion, and Donna Stanley, of Arizona; a brother-in-law, Gerald Turner, of Van Buren; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
 
Calling will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. A funeral service will follow immediately at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Al Soultz officiating.  Interment will follow in the Grant Memorial Park in Marion. Those in attendance must follow social distancing guidelines for all events.
