Charlotte Rahn Ellabarger

Charlotte Rahn Ellabarger, 92, of Indianapolis, IN, and with ties to Huntington, IN, died Aug. 25, 2020.

Mrs. Ellabarger participated in Job’s Daughters during high school and she became Honored Queen. She graduated from Huntington High School, going on to MacMurray College for Women in Jacksonville, IL, majoring in primary education. Upon college graduation, she returned to Huntington to teach first and second grades at Riley School. After marrying her husband, the couple moved to Oakland, CA, and she taught third and fourth grades in the Alameda School System at Mastick School. She was a member of the Theta Sigma upperclass society. Later moving to Indianapolis, she was the head of the children’s department and Sunday school teacher at Disciples of Christ Church. She was a member of Ladies Circle and other Bible Study groups at Franklin Road Baptist Church, Bible Study Fellowship Leader, a member of PEO and DAR, Pleasant Run and Sahm Golf Leagues. She was also a former member of 91st Street Christian Church and Hoosier Village.

She was born on March 17, 1928, in Huntington. To Elmer H. and Faith M. Emley Rahn. She married Lowell G. Ellabarger on June 30, 1951, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Daniel (Theresa) Rahn Ellabarger (Theresa); two daughters Mary A. (Steve) Brumm and Laura (Tim) Schigel; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by and a grandson.

Graveside services for the family were held in the Good Shepherd Chapel at Oaklawn Cemetery in Indianapolis on Friday, Aug. 28, 2020. Flanner Buchanan Cremation and Burial was in charge of arrangements.
