Larry M. Zook

Larry M. Zook, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Zook graduated from Lancaster Township High School in 1959.  He started out working for Kriegbaum & Sons, then with Carl Reed Tractor Service for 20 years as a skilled mechanic and service man. He later worked for Jerry Hite Trucking. He also served as a professional fire fighter for the Huntington Fire Department for 35 years. He was a member at the Salamonie Church of the Bretheren and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 333 and 483 for 50 years. He also volunteered at Parkview Huntington Hospital for nine years.

He was born on March 4, 1941, in Huntington, to Emmett and Elsie Bardsley Zook Thomas. He married Sherry Smith on June 10, 1962, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Tamera (Tim) Coates, of Plano, TX; a son, Eric (Peggy) Zook, of LaFontaine; a step-sister, Marilyn Penn, of Huntington; three sisters-in-law, Susie Higgs, Connie (Jim) Martin and Donna (Gene) Little; a brother-in-law, Greg Hinkle; and four grandchildren, Phillip (Kaitlyn) Zook, of Columbia City, Geoffrey Coates, of Coppell, TX, Gabrielle Coates, of Coppell, TX, and Lesley Zook, of LaFontaine.

Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. at Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County. Family and friends are invited to attend and are encouraged to socially distance.

Memorials may be made to the Salamonie Church of the Brethren or the Huntington Fire Department, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington, IN.
