Phyllis A. Myers

Phyllis A. Myers, 92, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at 7:50 p.m., at Heritage Pointe in Warren.  

Mrs. Meyers was a 1946 graduate of Huntington High School and worked in quality control at Wabash Technology from 1965 to 1993. She then worked as a receptionist at H&R Block from 1998 to 2007.  She was a member of Salamonie Church of the Brethren, where she was president of Women’s Fellowship, served as president of Huntington Women’s Bowling Association, and held numerous officer positions in Lancaster Home Extension.

She was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Huntington County, to Marland and Verna Smith Jay. She married Bill J. Myers on Nov. 24, 1949, in Huntington.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1992.  

Survivors include three sons, Tom (Paula) Myers, of Syracuse, Terry (Barb) Myers, of Andrews, and John (Kathy) Myers, of Huntington; two brothers, Robert (Jayne) Jay, of Tipton, and Gene (Doris) Jay, of Marion; four grandchildren, Michele Myers, Joseph Myers, Jeff Myers, and Kelly Myers; and three great-grandchildren.

Calling will be held on Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Salamonie Church of the Brethren, 2662W-600S, Lancaster, with a funeral service to immediately follow. Rev. Gene Vickery will officiate. Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery. Deal-Rice Funeral Home in Huntington is in charge of arrangements.
