Lula M. Walter

Lula M. Walter, 93, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital.

Mrs. Walter was a graduate of Clear Creek High School and attended Manchester College for two years before her marriage. She was a farm wife, helping her husband on the farm all her life. She attended Zion United Methodist Church where she played the piano and organ. She participated in Huntington County Homemakers Extension Club and the Ladies Aid. She also participated as a Big Sister in the Big Brother/Big Sister program.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1927, in Huntington County, to Roy and Ida Richards Howenstine. She married Robert G. Walter on Sept. 27, 1947, in Goblesville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2020.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Walter, of Castle Rock, CO, and Terry (Lucinda) Walter, of Roanoke; a daughter, Dawn (Frank) Smith, of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Scott (Erin) Walter, of New Haven, Mark Smith, of Newton, IA, and Danielle Smith of Fort Wayne; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A funeral service will follow visitation. Those in attendance are asked to follow the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing.

Interment will be at the Zion Cemetery in Huntington County.
