Herbert M. Walton, 96, of Warren, IN, died on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Walton served his country during WWII. He served in Belgium, Siege of Bastogne and Brest France in 1944. He also served in Ohrdruf and Musch Germany in 1945. He was a lifetime farmer in Huntington County. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7 in Huntington. He was a grounds keeper at Waltons Glen Archery Range.
Herb was born on July 23, 1924 in Huntington County, the son of Otto and Eva Welker Walton. He was united in marriage to Pauline Tinkle on Aug. 17, 1946. She preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2002.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Michael Walton of Warren and Staccia (Michael Shockley) Grover of Huntington; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James Walton and Tom Walton, and granddaughter-in-law, Vicki Walton.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2020, from 1 to 4 p.m. with funeral service to follow at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. Attendees are asked to follow the CDC’s and Indiana’s guidelines for social distancing and social gathering limits.
Interment will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery at a later date.
