Gerald Devon “Jerry” Hampton

Gerald Devon “Jerry” Hampton, 84, of Andrews, IN, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington.

Mr. Hampton served in the U. S. Army in Germany during World War II. He was a union sheet metal worker for over 50 years with Fort Wayne Local 20. He was a member of the Huntington VFW Post No. 2689.

He was born on March 7, 1936, in Crawfordsville, to Ernest B. and Dorothy Smith Hampton. He married Leota Deel on Jan. 18, 1975, in Huntington. She survives in Andrews.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Jackie Irwin, of Huntington; a son, Ernest L. Hampton, of Andrews; and a sister, Barbara Key.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Harry “Bob” Irwin, on Dec. 17, 2020.

Burial with military honors will take place at a later date at Marion National Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Northern Indiana Funeral Care of Fort Wayne.
