Eugene “Gene” E. Fleck, 76, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Mr. Fleck attended St. Meinard Seminary for five years. He was a graduate of Indiana State University with a Master’s in Latin. He was a teacher for three years in Portage. Following teaching he had several upper management positions over a 15-year period with the Budd Company located in Detroit, MI, and Findlay, OH. In 1985, along with partners from Hinkle Manufacturing, he built the current Indiana Box plant located in Riverfork Industrial Park. In 1988, he with several partners started Innovative Packaging located on Flaxmill Road in Huntington. He was employed there until his death. He was also a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington.
He was born on March 25, 1944, to Lawrence and Marcella Fleck. He married Laura Roberts on Aug. 7, 1965. She survives and resides in Huntington.
Additional survivors include one son, Chris (Julie) Fleck, of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Carrie (Terry) Miller, of Warren, and Lori (Jeff) Cox, of Huntington; one brother, Dan (Joan) Fleck, of Plainfield; one sister, Kitty (Bill) Weikert, of Jasper; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Carter Fleck.
Calling will take place on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, from 1 to 6 p.m., at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at 2 p.m., at the church, with Rev. Tony Steinacker presiding. Masks and social distancing are required at the calling and Mass.
