Randy G. Porter, 65, of Roanoke, IN, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at his home.
Mr. Porter worked with his father in the family business, Porter Construction, until his father’s death in 1996. He then worked for Fox Contractors as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 103, and was a member of Sons of the American Legion Post No. 160. He also volunteered many years with the Roanoke Parks Department and Roanoke Tractor Pullers Association.
He was born on March 7, 1955, in LaGrange, to Don and Mary Eberly Porter Squire. He married Susan Sheets on April 21, 1973. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Joshua (Shanon) Porter, of Roanoke, Jason (Jessica) Porter, of Roanoke, and Jeffrey (Shelly) Porter, of Fort Wayne; four brothers, Rick (Roxie) Porter, of Fort Wayne, Dan (Cheryl) Porter, of Roanoke, Bill Porter, of Fort Wayne, and Bob (Rhonda) Porter, of Des Moines, IA; a sister, Melissa Leggett, of Colorado; and six grandchildren.
Calling will be Monday, Feb. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service following immediately after at Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke.
Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
