Melvin “Ray” Cross, 54, of Niles, MI, and with family in Huntington County, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, MI.
Mr. Cross graduated in 1984 from Huntington North High School and received a degree from ITT Technical Institute in 1986. He worked 35 years in the information technology industry, most recently for Technosoft Corporation as a system engineer. Previous employers include Archway Marketing, South Bend, CTS, Elkhart, and Zenith, St. Joe. He had worked at Bechstein’s Grocery while in school before moving to Michigan.
He was born on July 6, 1966, in Decatur, to Raymond Milbern and Lavonne E. Strahm Cross. He was previously married to Cindy Olinghouse Cross. She preceded him in death.
Additional survivors include three sisters, Berna Mae (Mike) Anderson and Amanda Cross (Brad Ryan), both of Roanoke, and Myrna (Tim) Schoeff, of Huntington; a stepson, Brett (Amy) Scott, of Niles, MI, and stepson Josh (Ashley) Scott, of Indianapolis; two stepgrandchildren; and fiancé Tina Irwin, of Niles, MI.
Services will be held at a later date. Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, in Niles, MI, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
