Nicholas (Niles) Neuenschwander

Nicholas “Niles” Neuenschwander, 40, of Ossian, IN and with ties to Huntington County, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2021.

Mr. Neuenschwander graduated from Norwell High School in 1999. He received his associate’s and bachelor’s in criminal justice from IPFW.  He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Technical Sergeant from 1999 to 2006, during Operation Enduring Freedom. He worked as a confinement officer at the Federal Correctional Institution, Terre Haute, and worked as a Field Examiner for the past 10+ years for the Department of Veterans Affairs.  He attended Life Community Church in Huntington. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 241, of Waynedale, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1980, in Bluffton, to Donald L. and Judith A. Baker Neuenschwander.  His mother survives in Bluffton.

Additional survivor included a brother, Shane L. (Traci) Neuenschwander, of Markle.

Calling will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a funeral service following immediately after at Goodwin–Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, Bluffton. Rev. Mike Hill will officiate.  Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 241, of Waynedale, in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Masks are required.

The funeral service will be available to watch live via a Facebook Live link, which will be posted immediately before 2 p.m. on at the top of the obituary page.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.
