Ralph F. Schaadt, 89, of Bluffton, IN, and with family in Huntington County, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Schaadt was a 1949 graduate of Rockford High School in Rockford, OH. He was drafted by the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served from July 1953 to July 1954. He sold insurance for many years with Graber Insurance in Berne. He was a member of the Bethel Brethren Church in Berne.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1931, in Rockford, OH, to Victor Schaadt and Luella Affolder Schaadt. He married Virginia Cochran on Jan. 28, 1956, at the Reiffsburg United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2020.
Survivors include four children, Pamela (Bill Young) Britton, of Roanoke, David M. (Carolyn) Schaadt, of Leo, Kristy K. (Jeff) Hensley, of Bluffton and Richard A. (Gretchen) Schaadt, of Churubusco; a brother, John (Cathy) Schaadt, of Decatur; a sister-in-law, LaDonna Schaadt, of Berne; 12 grandchildren, Victoria D. (Kyle) Duncan-Dildine, Daniel T. Duncan, Tyler S. (Rachel) Duncan, Ryan M. (Gabrielle) Schaadt, Andrew M. Schaadt, Audra L. (Ryan) Hilker, Dustin (Kayli) Hensley, Natasha V.R.(Brandon) Swygart, Collin D. (Anna) Hensley, Aiden L. Miller, Olivia L. Schaadt and Zeke A. Schaadt; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, at 3 p.m., at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton with Rev. Joe Nass officiating. Burial will follow at Stahl Cemetery in rural Bluffton. Calling will take place at 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Social distancing and mask wearing will be required. Limited numbers of people are allowed in the building at one time.
