Rex E. Douglass, 89, of Markle, IN, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Douglass was a 1949 graduate of Union Center High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956. He was a lifelong farmer in Wells County and was a member of Markle United Methodist Church. He also served on the Federal Land Bank board of directors for many years.
He was born on Oct. 4, 1931, in Grant County, to Howard and Bethina Pence Douglass. He married Marilyn Harnish on Apr. 12, 1952, in Bluffton. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Philip (Marcia) Douglass, of Muncie, and Steven (Leslie) Douglass, of Markle; two daughters, Patricia (Tim) Baker, of Ossian, and Susan (Joe) Costa, of Markle; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service took place on Wednesday, March 3, at Goodwin–Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, Bluffton. Rev. Dan Hyer officiated.
Memorials may be made to the Markle United Methodist Church or the Markle Fish and Game Club Park.
