Genelda F. Lancaster

Genelda F. Lancaster, 96, of Poneto, IN, and with family in Huntington County, IN, died Friday, March 5, 2021, at 3:49 p.m., at her daughter’s home.

Mrs. Lancaster attended Hartford City High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and was the past matron of the Alethea Chapter No. 206.

She was born on Dec. 1, 1924, in Blackford County, to William Leroy and Violet Hoover Schultz. She married Donford Lewis Lancaster on June 1, 1944, in Van Buren. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2021.

Survivors include two sons, Roger (Bobbie Ann) Lancaster, of Montpelier, and Mark (Pennie) Lancaster, of Poneto; a daughter, Malia (Bill) Schortgen, of Poneto; 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Roger) Ramseyer, of Montpelier, John A. Lancaster, of Montpelier, Lori (Kenny) Perry, of Montpelier, Jon (Christy) Lancaster, of Montpelier, Rebecka (Nate) Baker, of Montpelier, Holly (Shanon) Ellet, of Markle, Rachel (Randy Bowers) Lancaster, of Clarksville, TN, Aaron (Kristen) Schortgen, of Poneto, Travis (Emily) Schortgen, of Warren, Austin (Sydney) Schortgen, of Liberty Center, and Christa (Ethan) Potter, of Granger; 30 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Anita Lancaster; a grandson, Brett Lancaster; and two great-granddaughters.

Calling will take place on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Steve Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, in Montpelier. Social distancing and masks are recommended.
