James W. Reed Jr., 79, of Geneva, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Saturday March 20, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Reed graduated from Huntington High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. He worked on the family farm and worked for K-Mart Distribution and Pretzels in Bluffton, where he retired in 2007.
He was born on Feb. 11, 1942, in Huntington, to Ethel Cunningham and James W. Reed Sr. He married Mary A. Pinkerton on Aug. 27, 1967, in Warren. She survives in Geneva.
Additional survivors include two children, Timothy J. (Kendra) Reed, of Geneva, and Marsha Ann (Scott) Drew, of Bluffton; a sister, Nancy (Tom) Stricker, of Van Wert, OH; and four grandchildren, Samantha Drew, Mitchel Drew, Kailey Reed and Brandon Reed.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 2 p.m., at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home, Bluffton. Rev. Mark Dauterman will officiate. Calling will take place from noon to 2 p.m., prior to the service. Masks are required for calling and the funeral service. There are only a limited number of people allowed in the funeral home at one time.
Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, in Marion.
