Verna M. Ross, 85, of Bluffton, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at her residence.
Mrs. Ross was a 1953 graduate of Bluffton High School. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
She was born on July 5, 1935, in Huntington County, to Norman H. and Opal P. Bardsley VanEmon. She married James E. Thomas, Sr., on April 12, 1953. He preceded her in death. She then married Hilbert Ross, Sr., on Feb. 14, 1971. He also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Julia (Kevin) Taylor; three sons, John R. Thomas and David (Marie) Ross, all of Bluffton, and Don (Tiffany) Oberle, of California; a stepson, Hilbert “Skip” Ross, Jr., all of Bluffton; a brother, Earl J. VanEmon, of Wooster, OH; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James E. “Jet” Thomas in 2010.
A private family funeral service will take place, with burial to follow at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton. Arrangements are being handled by Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home, Bluffton.
