Bonita "Bonnie" R. Bates, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 3:40 a.m., at her residence.
Mrs. Bates attended Purdue University. She was a homemaker and also had her own clothing line, "Misbonnie Originals.”
She was born on Sept. 10, 1941, in Indianapolis, to Rowland and Elizabeth Miles Creager. She married Devon "PeeWee" W. Bates on March 25, 1960, in Huntington. He survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Paul D. (Julie) Bates, of California, Allen (Diane) Bates, of Tennessee, and Jim (Kim) Wood, of Indiana; three daughters, Diane (John) Walker, of Michigan, Andrea (Peggy McCune) Bates, of Indiana, and Robin Jones, of California; and 18 grandchildren, Brooke (Justin) Bates-Kubin, of California, Gillian Bates, of Tennessee, Kaitlin Jones, of Indiana, Halle (Brandon) Blount, of Indiana, Brittany (Terry) Garland, of Indiana, Aron Brown, of California, Daymond Bates, of Tennessee, Griffin Bates, of Tennessee, Jerade Stephan, of Wisconsin, John Stephan, of Indiana, Josh Amick, of Wisconsin, Justyn Amick, of Indiana, Jordan (Kimberly) Amick, of Indiana, Joel Amick, of Indiana, Jayden Walker, of Michigan, Dwight Pence, of Indiana, Ryan Pence, of Indiana, and Josh Wood.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Bates; and three grandchildren, Lee Bates, Jacob Stephan and Carolyn Brown.
Calling will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will follow immediately after. Rev. Denise Schwaberow will officiate.
