Roy Mitchell Stephens

Roy Mitchell Stephens, 84, of Wabash, IN, and with family in Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 2:40 p.m., at his home.

Mr. Stephens worked at Celotex Corporation in Lagro, retiring after 43 years. He was affiliated with the Southside Free Will Baptist Church.

He was born on Nov. 1, 1936, in Lackey, KY, to Gaylord and Maudie Smith Stephens. He married Mary Gibson on Jan. 2, 1988, in Wabash. She survives.

Additional survivors include seven children, James "Jim" Stephens, of Wabash, Brenda (Dave) Jackson, of Urbana, Theresa (Joel) Dossen, of Huntington, T. Scott Gibson, of Wabash, Ervin (Krista) Nickels, of Huntington, Michael Nickels, of Kingsport, TN, and Shannon (Brooke) Summey, of Bonita Springs, FL; a sister, Phyllis Hill, of Wabash; two brothers, Bobby Stephens, of Wabash, and Roger (April) Stephens, of Battle Creek, MI;18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cherlyn Rider.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with Tim Webb officiating. Calling will start at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.
