Dakotah “Kody” Spears

Dakotah “Kody” Spears, 29 of Muncie, IN, and formerly of Warren, IN, died on Monday, July 5, 2021, at her home.

Ms. Spears was a 2010 graduate from Huntington North High School and graduated with an associate’s and bachelor’s degree in graphic design and business management from International Business College in 2013. She worked for Pathfinder’s Kid Campus in Huntington. She was the secretary for the First Baptist Church in Warren, where she also taught Sunday School.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1991, in Wells County, to Michael L. Spears and Kelly M. Odquist.  Her mother and stepfather, Matt Chapin, survive in Huntington. Her father and stepmother, Sherry Spears, survive in Huntington.

Additional survivors include her companion, Dakota Vaught, of Muncie, as well as his daughter, Tessa Vaught, of Muncie; paternal grandmother, Lois Spears, of Warren; maternal grandmother, Debra Pinkerton, of Sterling, IL; maternal step-grandmother, Susan Odquist, of Prophets Town, IL; and brother, Jarek Spears, of Warren.

Calling will take place on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 727 N. Wayne St., Warren, with Rev. Rusty Strickler officiating.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Warren at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Warren.
