Marvin D. “Don” Staley, 94, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.
Mr. Staley was a 1945 graduate of Clay City High School in Clay County. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1945 to 1947, being stationed in Italy. He worked at Studebaker, Coachman RV, DX/Sunoco/Sun Oil and Pulley-Kellham, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Northview Church of Christ and helped start the church in the mid 1970s, where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher. Most recently he was a member of Markle Church of Christ and served as a greeter for many years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1926, in Clay County, to Charles and Hester Kendall Staley. He married Barbara Ann Whittaker on Nov. 24, 1948, in South Bend. She preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1999.
Survivors include three sons, Bob (Jenny) Staley, of Fort Wayne, Jack (Carole) Staley, of St. Augustine, FL, and Roger (Sheila Christen) Staley, of Huntington; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling will take place on Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m., and again from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, Huntington.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with Blake Caley officiating.
Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
