Mary Alice (Myers-Schwob) Rickert

Mary Alice (Myers-Schwob) Rickert, 95, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 7:05 a.m., at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester.

Mrs. Rickert was a 1943 graduate of Clear Creek High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She also drove a school bus for seven years for the Huntington County Community School Corporation. She was a member of the Emmanuel Community Church in Fort Wayne. She had served on the Huntington County Extension Board, the Huntington County 4-H Fair Board and was a past President of the Huntington County Extension Homemakers Council. She was an active member of the Warren Township Extension Homemaker’s Club since 1956 and had held the office of president, vice president, leader; and for the past several years had served as the clubs’ secretary treasurer. She was also active in the Bippus Lions Club.

She was born on Sept. 7, 1925, in Clear Creek Township, to Hildreth D. and Mabel Wilson Myers. Her first marriage was to J. Robert Schwob in November of 1946. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1952. Her second marriage was to Robert M. Rickert on April 14, 1956. He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 2008.

Survivors include two sons, David A. (Cheri) Rickert, of Huntington, and Danny L. (Judy) Rickert, of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas (Schwob) Rickert.

Calling will take place on Monday, July 19, 2021, from noon to 2 p.m., at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington. A funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Gary Dilley officiating.

Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery in Huntington.
