Donald Francis “Bud” Hetler, 82, of Warren, IN, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021, at his home.
Mr. Hetler graduated from Andrews High School in 1957. Shortly after, he began a career in the U.S. Navy. His service included Iceland, two Destroyers 0S5 Goldsborough during the Vietnam War and USS Somers as radioman chief and also lay leader, three tours of duty on Midway Island and Recruiter at Cincinnati, OH. He retired in 1981 after his time in Brunswick, ME.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1939, in Wabash, to Donald J.W. Hetler and Barbara Randall Hetler. His stepfather, Marvin Huston, of Huntington, survives. He married Jacquelyn Sue Dennis on May 20, 1961, at Sunnycrest United Methodist Church. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Don E. Hetler, of Warren; a sister, Donna Dennis, of Huntington; and a half-brother, Dennis Huston, of Huntington.
A graveside service will take place on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Marion National Cemetery with military rites. Rev. Ferrell Long will be officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Care, 2901 S. Washington St., Marion.
