Craig A. Kelsey

Craig A. Kelsey, age 63, of Leo and formerly of Roanoke, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He graduated from Huntington North High School in 1976, and attended Ball State University. Craig began his 30-year trucking career at Schenkel’s Dairy in his early twenties and retired from Super Value after many years of service. Raised in Roanoke, Craig was a member of Seminary United Methodist Church, as were his parents and grandparents. He was devoted to his family, including his aunts and uncles and other extended family. Craig personally cared for his father full time for the last few years of his life. A sentimental person, he owned several classic Buicks over the years, a nod to his grandfather who owned a Buick dealership in Roanoke’s early days. Craig loved to visit and keep in touch with old friends and attend family gatherings. He was known for his quick wit and animated sense of humor. He could tell a story like no one else and have his audience doubled over. He also loved to watch classic westerns, old movies and golf, always rooting for the underdog. Craig was also an avid walker, putting in hundreds of miles on the Puffer Belly Trail in Fort Wayne. He will be dearly missed by his family.

Craig was born December 2, 1957, in Fort Wayne, a son of the late Duane R. and Carol Ann (Sellers) Kelsey. He is survived by 2 sisters Laura Kelsey of Farmland and Val Holley of Fort Wayne, a brother Todd (Cathy) Kelsey of Yoder, nephews Dirk (Autumn) Holley, Ryan (Meggan) Holley, and Brandon (Nicole) Holley and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 7 from 6-8 pm at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes and Wednesday, September 8 from 1:30-2:00 pm preceding the 2:00 pm funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.

Preferred memorials are to Seminary United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice c/o Roanoke Memorial Chapel, 240 Crestwood Dr., Roanoke, IN 46783.
