Ruth I. Weber, 91, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Tipton Place.Mrs. Weber spent her early years in Canada and moved from Ontario to Huntington when she was seven years old, where she finished her education. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1948 and Huntington College in 1952. She later received her master’s from Saint Francis University in 1974. She taught in the school systems of Columbia City, Welland County, Ontario, Canada, Louisville, KY, and Huntington County for 54 years. She spent 30 years teaching English in the Huntington County classrooms and another 20 years teaching adult education in the Huntington County School System after retirement.
She was born on July 16, 1930, in Stevensville, Ontario, Canada, to Elmer and Inez Schad Becker. She married Rev. Burton P. Weber on Aug. 28, 1954. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1996.Survivors include a son, Douglas B. (Betty Ruth) Weber, of Osceola; a daughter, Elaine R. (Travis) Willour, of Huntington; a sister, Carol D. (James) Nolan, of Fort Wayne; a brother, E. Carlson (Naomi) Becker, of Traverse City, MI; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Calling will take place on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m., at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. A funeral service will take place on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at 11 a.m., at College Park United Brethren Church, 1945 College Ave., Huntington. There will be one hour of calling prior to the service. Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington.
