Carolyn J. (Saluke) Ruppert, 80, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, at Markle Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Ruppert graduated in 1959 from Huntington Catholic High School. She was a lifetime member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington and a librarian for 20 years in the Children’s Room at the Huntington City Township Public Library.She was born on Feb. 15, 1941, to William and Katherine Smeltzley Saluke. She married David F. Ruppert on May 16, 1964. He survives in Huntington. Additional survivors include two sons, Rev. David A. Ruppert, of Decatur, and Chris E. (Michelle) Ruppert, of Fort Wayne; one daughter, Lisa R. Hunt, of Huntington; one brother, William M. Saluke, of Dayton, OH; five grandchildren, Matthew J. (Leah) Hunt, of Huntington, Katie N. Hunt, of Huntington, and Lindsey A. Hunt, of Huntington, Ryan M. Ruppert, of Fort Wayne, and Alex D. Ruppert, of Fort Wayne; and one great-grandson, James A. Hunt. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel M. Ruppert. The Recitation of the Rosary will take place on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at 3:30 p.m., followed by calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. An additional calling will take place on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, from 10 to 11:00 a.m., at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow with Rev. Tony Steinacker and Rev. David A. Ruppert officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
