Emma Lou Evans, 75, of Coldwater, MI, and with ties to Huntington, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Evans earned her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of St. Francis. She taught fifth grade at Bluffton-Harrison Middle School for many years. She was a member of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ as well as Lockwood Community Church. She was also a member of the Lakeland Fire Department and the Sweet Adeline’s of Coldwater.
She was born on April 29, 1946, to Herald and Marie Pancake Whittenbargar in Decatur. She married Ronald Evans on May 31, 1970, at Mount Victory Church in Decatur. He survives.
Additional survivors include three children, Jenny (Rob) Bonewitz, of Huntington, Anne (Jason) Hix, of Canal Winchester, OH, and Sally Evans, of Newark, OH; two brothers, Orville (Becky) Whittenbargar, of Convoy, OH and Bob (Barb) Whittenbargar, of Van Wert, OH; four grandchildren, Tyler (Whitney) Bonewitz, Roxanne (Tony) Diaz, Taylor Bonewitz and Jacob Bonewitz; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Lockwood Community Church with Rev. Mike Arnold and Rev. Ron Evans officiating. Dutcher Funeral Home, Coldwater, MI, is handling arrangements.
