John William Zahm I, 90, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Zahm was a 1948 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force with the 122nd Division Fighter Wing during the Korean War. He received an associate’s degree in business and retired in 1986 from the Majestic Company. In retirement, he worked at Erie Department Store. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1930, in Huntington, to William Mathias and Mary Lucy McClanahan Zahm. He married Marie Ann Vachon on Aug. 28, 1954, in New Haven. She preceded him in death on Sept. 27, 2018.
Survivors include four sons, John W. (Linda) Zahm II, of New Haven, Eric N. (Kelly) Zahm, of Huntington, Mark A. (Jodi) Zahm, of Roanoke, and Philip S. (Lisa) Zahm, of Huntington; four daughters, Christine M. (Rick) Haskett, of Huntington, Leslie R. (Steven) Doty, of Anderson, Lisa F. Zahm and Denise E. Zahm, both of Huntington; a daughter-in-law, Susan Zahm; 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert B. Zahm, and a grandson, Brandon Zahm.
Calling will take place on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, from 3 to 7 p.m., at McElhaney- Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Additional calling hours will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, from 9 to 10 a.m., immediately followed by a Mass, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, with Rev. Thomas Zehr and Rev. Tony Steinacker presiding.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington.
